This lively feature gets the ball rolling with its timely critique of transgender representation in cinema. Featuring trans actors playing cis and trans roles, DEATH AND BOWLING follows “X,” a transgender actor, as he struggles with grief, loss, and trans visibility in the wake of his fearless bowling team leader’s death. This leads to meeting a new force in his life, a trans man named Alex. The two soon experience a distinctly queer yearning for one another that will stay with you far longer than the running time. This film (winner of the Narrative Feature Audience Award at the 2021 Outfest) is as beautifully dark as it is comedic and undeniably poignant.
We’ll be joined after the screening for a special Q&A with filmmaker Lyle Kash
