Divinely delicious documentarian Jeffrey Schwarz (I AM DIVINE, TAB HUNTER CONFIDENTIAL, VITO, all of which screened at our festival over the years) returns to Tinseltown with this behind-the-scenes look at the infamous creation of Sunset Boulevard’s first trip to Broadway—and the songwriting lovers at the center of it. The leading men of this documentary, composer Dickson Hughes and lyricist Richard Stapley, get caught in Gloria Swanson’s web of intrigue as she recruits them to musicalize the movie that relaunched her career, and the process of collaboration becomes a tumultuous chapter in their personal relationship. BOULEVARD! brings their story to life—and to all you wonderful people out there in the dark.
