Volunteers are the foundation of Three Dollar Bill Cinema. For our 29 years of existence, we’ve relied on our community and champions of queer cinema to ensure that Seattle Queer Film Festival thrives in sometimes difficult environments.
We rely on our volunteers more than ever as we build our organization’s capabilities. If you believe you have the time and skillsets for one of these positions, we would love to bring you into the TDBC family and bring queer stories to life!
TRANSlations Film Festival VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We have a variety of ways to volunteer for 2025’s TRANSlations Film Festival. Check out the descriptions below and find where you might best lend a hand.
We have various 4-5 hour shifts the following days of the festival:
Friday, May 31st: 4p-Midnight
Saturday, June 1st: 11a-Midnight
2025 TRANSlations Festival Roles
Volunteers can complete a minimum of ONE shift to earn vouchers and other perks.
Venue Crew: You are the face of the festival and create a welcoming experience for guests in theaters. Roles include ushering, ticket scanning, line management, and distributing ballots.
House Manager: This is a leadership role available during the Festival. You are overseeing the venue crew volunteers at theaters, coordinating/helping box office staff and managing daily operations set-up, theater load-ins and load-outs.
Special Events: Our service team for parties and other events surrounding the festival. This team provides front-of-house service for events, including set-up and teardown, guest check-in, bartending, and serving/bussing.
Photographer: Help us capture the fun of SQFF! We need someone to capture red carpet moments along with various candids of our audiences, special guests and our VIP lounge. Must provide own camera equipment.
Street Team: Handles promotions and outreach. This essential team spreads the word and distributes materials to increase visibility for the festival, and connect with film lovers and future volunteers.
READY TO VOLUNTEER?
Register for an account on our volunteer management site, Shiftboard. You can browse and claim available volunteer opportunities and get the latest volunteer news and updates, right to your inbox.
NOTE: We’re teaming with our friend’s at SIFF under their Shiftboard account. If you have volunteered with SIFF in the past, and already have a SIFF Shiftboard account, you do not need to re-register, but please take a moment to review and update your contact information, then sign up for the SQFF Team.
VOLUNTEER BENEFITS
TDBC provides a variety of wonderful perks to volunteers. The more service hours you collect, the more benefits you can earn.
VOUCHERS
TDBC volunteers receive ticket vouchers that are redeemable during both TDBC’s festivals: TRANSlations and Seattle Queer Film Festival (SQFF). For every two hours of service, volunteers receive one voucher for a film screening. One voucher can be redeemed for one regularly priced ticket -either for an in-person screening or a virtual one. Vouchers are transferable to friends or family, but the sale of vouchers is strictly prohibited.
SHIFTS TO TDBC MEMBERSHIP
In addition to receiving vouchers for tickets, for every four hours of service, volunteers receive a TDBC Membership for one year. A TDBC Membership grants you discounts on tickets and passes, reciprocal benefits at several local organizations, and invitations to member-only events and screenings. After your hours are logged on Shiftboard post-film festival, we will automatically create your membership to TDBC. Reach out to volunteer@threedollarbillcinema.org if there are any issues/questions.
APPRECIATION EVENTS
TDBC Volunteers receive exclusive invitations to special film screenings and events throughout the year!
