Kit (Henry Golding, CRAZY RICH ASIANS), a young British-Vietnamese man, was just eight years old when he and his family escaped Saigon as “boat refugees.” Returning to his now-unfamiliar birth country for the first time in over thirty years and unable to speak the language, he embarks on a journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, in search of a place to scatter his parents’ ashes. Along the way he meets his estranged family and falls for Lewis (Parker Sawyers, SOUTHSIDE WITH YOU), an American whose father fought in the war. Exploring migration and family ties, director Hong Khaou (LILTING) sensitively follows Kit as he connects with his roots.
