Seattle Queer Film Festival will open on Thursday October 12th at The SIFF Egyptian with the West Coast Premiere of Andrew Haigh’s critically acclaimed new drama, ALL OF US STRANGERS starring Andrew Scott (Fleabag) Claire Foy (The Queen), and Paul Mescal (Aftersun). The festival will close on Saturday October 22nd at Broadway Performance Hall with our fabulous QUEER JOY IS…COMEDY shorts block, featuring hilarious shorts, and local stand-up comedy! This was such a highlight of our 2022 festival that we decided to make it our closing night presentation!
This year we’ve expanded our centerpiece selections to more accurately represent the various intersections in our community, and the sheer number of incredible works. Our Comedy Centerpiece, CORA BORA, stars internet sensation Meg Stalter (Hacks); our Documentary Centerpiece, 1946: THE MISTRANSLATION THAT SHIFTED CULTURE, won the Audience Choice award at Outfest and has been enjoying sold out screenings all across the festival circuit; our Sapphic Centerpiece, HEALED, stars queer icon Guinevere Turner (Go Fish, The Watermelon Woman); our Trans Centerpiece, RUNS IN THE FAMILY, is a U.S. Premiere and has been acquired by Netflix; our U.S. Spotlight, OUR SON, stars Billy Porter (Pose), Luke Evans, Andrew Rannells, and Phylicia Rashad; and our Alumni Spotlights, GLITTER AND DOOM and FANCY DANCE, represent major leaps forward for the filmmakers involved, and really showcases their evolution.
