Lola (Lola vers la mer)

Eighteen-year-old Lola, a transgender college student, is relieved that she’s finally getting surgery. Unfortunately, her mother, who supports her financially, has died. When her estranged father—who has already misled her about the funeral—announces that he’s taking the ashes to scatter them in her final resting place, Lola reluctantly decides to travel with him. This award-winning road-trip film tinged with family drama is about second chances and making peace with our traumatic pasts. Mya Bollaers, in her first starring role, has received widespread acclaim for her lead portrayal, becoming the first openly transgender person to be nominated for a Magritte Award.
