Cicada

CICADA is a stirring portrait of bisexual Ben (co-director Matthew Fifer in a fearless performance), who jumps from one meaningless and sometimes anonymous sexual encounter to another until he decides to confront his demons. When Sam (co-writer Sheldon D. Brown), a closeted gay man who is also haunted by past trauma, meets Ben, the Sandusky sexual abuse trial looming in the background triggers a rich, nuanced journey into psychological depths and cultural divides. Fifer and Brown’s script is honest and tender, making CICADA possibly one of the best indies of the year.
