Studious high school student Ellie (Sophie Hawkshaw) has fallen for rebellious Abbie (Zoe Terakes) and plans to ask her to the formal dance. The very public proposal to her crush is all laid out in her mind when unsolicited assistance appears in the form of her dead aunt Tara, who declares herself Ellie’s “fairy godmother” and proceeds to share dating tips based on her experiences as a lesbian in the 1980s. Ellie gets more than she bargained from this opinionated ghost, but as much as she wants to ignore the advice, she finds that some of the suggestions are actually useful (others not so much!). Director Monica Zanetti cast the film with a number of queer performers, which makes for an enjoyable, authentic, and very funny teen lesbian rom-com.
