Flavio Alves; 2019; USA; 88 min.; in English and Spanish with English subtitles. Northwest Premiere.

Director Flavio Alves and Actress Ivana Black Scheduled to Attend.

Fresh from its premiere at SXSW comes an incredibly timely film about Tina, a young transwoman, and her grandmother Eliana, as they navigate Tina’s transition and their struggle to build a life as undocumented immigrants in New York City. Tina (played with poise and depth by newcomer Carlie Guevara) luckily has a supportive group of transwomen friends but is faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges, including violent threats in the streets and a lack of commitment from her lover. Director Flavio Alves (TOM IN AMERICA, TWIST 2014) employed trans actors in this exceptionally well-crafted first feature that will leave you on your feet and ready for action.

“With a stunning performance from newcomer Carlie Guevara, THE GARDEN LEFT BEHIND is transgender authenticity at its finest.” - CHICAGO INDEPENDENT FILM CRITICS CIRCLE

Opening Night Party to immediately follow the film at Gay City: Seattle’s LGBTQ Center at 517 E. Pike St Seattle, WA 98122.
