NO BOX FOR ME: AN INTERSEX STORY (Encore Screening)

  • GAY CITY: SEATTLE'S LGBTQ CENTER 517 East Pike Street Seattle, WA, 98122 United States (map)

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2019 | 7:45 PM | GAY CITY: SEATTLE’S LGBTQ CENTER

France/Switzerland | 2018 | 58 minutes | Floriane Devigne | In French with English subtitles

Shedding light on a topic that is too often misunderstood, NO BOX FOR ME unveils the complex and far-reaching issues faced by intersex people, who are born with variations in their sex characteristics that often cause Western doctors to surgically assign a gender during infancy. In this very personal documentary, director Floriane Devigne gives voice to intersex people, their loved ones, and medical professionals who are coming to a new understanding of gender and urging the removal of stigma, bravely and eloquently articulating the physical and emotional conflicts of people born outside of the binary box.
