Shedding light on a topic that is too often misunderstood, NO BOX FOR ME unveils the complex and far-reaching issues faced by intersex people, who are born with variations in their sex characteristics that often cause Western doctors to surgically assign a gender during infancy. In this very personal documentary, director Floriane Devigne gives voice to intersex people, their loved ones, and medical professionals who are coming to a new understanding of gender and urging the removal of stigma, bravely and eloquently articulating the physical and emotional conflicts of people born outside of the binary box.
