In this tender story about love and family, Singaram, a middle-aged fisherman, must pick up the pieces of his devastated family after a tsunami rages through his small coastal town in southeast India. Now the sole guardian of his orphaned young nephew and adult niece Anandhi, he arranges for her to be married off. But Anandhi has other plans, as she’s falling in love with Kavita, a head-strong lesbian schoolteacher who has come to the small village to teach photography. As the family gets pushback from the conservative community, Anandhi navigates her burgeoning romance, and Singaram comes face to face with the hypocrisy of his own deep-seated traditional values.
