CHANGING THE GAME

  • Northwest Film Forum 1515 12th Avenue Seattle, WA, 98122 United States (map)

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2019 | 4:15 PM | NORTHWEST FILM FORUM

USA | 2019 | 91 minutes | Michael Barnett | In English without subtitles

In this beautifully framed inspirational sports documentary, three transgender teenagers fight against broken, discriminatory systems. Mack, a Texas-based wrestler, lives in a state that requires him to compete as the gender listed on his birth certificate; Sarah, a skier and activist, battles the New Hampshire policy that trans athletes may only play on their chosen team after going through gender-reassignment surgery; and Connecticut track-and-field champion Andraya is berated on and off the track despite her state’s progressive policy. Winner of the Jury Award for Best Documentary at aGLIFF and directed by Emmy Award–winning filmmaker Michael Barnett, CHANGING THE GAME champions teens who just want to compete and be accepted.
