Three Dollar Bill Cinema Listening Party
Tuesday, January 17th
6:30pm - 9pm
The tastemakers of Three Dollar Bill Cinema will set the sounds and scene to relive the lively gay history of Pioneer Square. Staff members of Three Dollar Bill Cinema will spin music celebrating Seattle’s infamous queer gathering spaces of yesteryear, such as the Garden of Allah, Madame Peabody’s Dancing Academy for Young Ladies, the Silver Slipper, and Shelly’s Leg.
Come enjoy this music of the gay community and feel free to dance, sing along, and even share a little history. It’s sure to be a blast from the past!
This social practice project is curated by Seattle Art Museum curator Sandra Jackson-Dumont in collaboration with [storefront] Olson Kundig Architects, and is inspired by “Theaster Gates: The Listening Room” on view at the Seattle Art Museum through July 1, 2012.
