We Were Here

Sat Oct 15, 5pm at Egyptian

It’s been 30 years since AIDS descended on the world. WE WERE HERE documents what was called the “gay plague” as it hit San Francisco in the early 1980s. Focusing on five survivors of the epidemic and their gripping recollections of the ordeal, this is an inspiring tale of empowerment, as the community came together to face a threat the government ignored. Award-winning director David Weissman brings a unique understanding to this ordeal, having lived through it himself. Meaningful and memorable, this journey through incredible suffering and loss is ultimately a story of compassion, support, and hope.
