THREE DOLLAR BILL CINEMA MISSION
Three Dollar Bill Cinema enriches, strengthens, and connects diverse communities by supporting queer film and by producing the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and other events.
WHAT WE DO
Three Dollar Bill Cinema provides access to films by, for, and about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and their families, and a forum for LGBT filmmakers to share and discuss their work with audiences. We curate themed screenings throughout the year and produce programs in partnership with other arts, cultural, and service delivery organizations in the Greater Seattle area.
OUR PROGRAMS
The Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival
Our chief program is The Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival. The festival has been a part of the Greater Seattle queer community and beyond since 1996 and has become the largest festival of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. The festival has garnered national recognition for showcasing extraordinary and award-winning work including the Northwest premiere of TRANSAMERICA and the Seattle premiere of SHORTBUS. The festival is also an important venue in the local Seattle film scene, and inspires members of our community to express their creativity through film and video.
The Seattle Black Pride Film Festival
2006 marked the first year for this film festival. Co-produced with The Seattle Black Pride Committee, films were screened at the Asian Art Museum and The Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center. Plans are underway for the 2007 festival scheduled to take place this July.
Translations: The Seattle Transgender Film Festival
Three Dollar Bill Cinema and Gender Odyssey present this groundbreaking film festival now in its second year. All of the programs Three Dollar Bill Cinema produces are inclusive of the transgender community. However, this trans-focused event showcases films made by, for, or about transgender people. The 2007 festival will take place August 31-September 2.
Cineoke!
It's like Karaoke -- only better. You're the star of your favorite movie musical. Pick any scene to sing along to, while the film and lyrics are projected onto the screen. There are hundreds of songs to choose from. Cineoke happens every second Monday, at the Rendezvous' Jewelbox Theater.
We also produce other events throughout the year. Check out our upcoming events page to see our most current events and programs.
