IN BOLD
Cinerama
Theatre
Sunday, October 19
12:00pm
A tribute
to bright and talented youth Jim Wheeler, JIM IN BOLD deftly weaves
the reflections of family and friends with the self portraits Jim
left behind, to honor this young man who left the world too soon.
Saddened by his suicide but inspired by Jims poems and art,
the three creators of the Young Gay America website drive cross-country
and interview queer youth in various towns across the nation, including
one young woman who organized a Pride parade in her small town,
and another teen who set up a straight-gay alliance in his school.
Driven to action to prevent similar tragedies in the future, Jims
mother has even taken the film to Senator Rick Santorums office
in an effort to change his views on homosexuality. Throughout the
film, Jims poetry is read by youth from across the nation,
offering empowerment and hope.
