CHICAS POR SENTIMIENTO offers a refreshingly sophisticated and intelligent look at the lives of five transsexual women living in Barcelona after the fall of the Franco dictatorship. While Barcelona has long harbored a significant MTF population, in recent years the group has grown and many of these women have emerged from the underground and openly established themselves in society. All agree that the new political and social climate has provided them with a security that the previous era of intolerance lacked. But each of these five women -- Marie Jose, Trini, Marga, Dora, and Virginia -- have individual perspectives on the changes they have witnessed in their city, in their own MTF family, and in themselves. In addition to revealing the humanity, diversity, and individuality of the film's protagonists, CHICAS provides a fascinating international perspective on the issues transgendered women face.
Plus Short: In I AM YOUR SISTER nine transwomen share stories of triumph over the disappointment of discrimination and ignorance.
